About ENCORE!
ENCORE! Fayette is a collaborative effort of Fayette county agencies and organizations to provide active, community-minded older adults an opportunity to learn more about their community. ENCORE (which stands for Enriching and Nurturing the Community by Offering Resources and Experiences), is an 8 to 9-week program with sessions held one day each week. Each session is dedicated to a different topic addressed by community leaders from both the public and private sectors. Participants learn the important issues and challenges facing Fayette County; identify the primary needs in the region, and ultimately decide how they can make a difference by helping to shape Fayette’s future.
The ENCORE! Fayette initiative began as a means of tapping into a tremendously underused resource in our community - our seniors. Over 15,000 seniors, 65 and older, make their home in Fayette County and that number is expected to grow to over 45,000 by 2030. Although ENCORE! was initially created for active seniors, ENCORE participants today have expanded to include community members of all ages. Our community needs the talents and experience of everyone.
