Good afternoon to all the Fayette Youth Workforce Coalition and supporters! Thanks to all of you that submitted letters of support, data and other information pertinent to our case statement showing need we were able to successfully complete and deliver ON TIME an excellent proposal to bring WIA (federal) dollars to Fayette County through a Fayette County provider! This is a first time occurrence too I might remind all! The biggest thanks of all of course goes to Dawn Oparah for her COUNTLESS hours of hard work on completing this grant!! We all shared the vision of bringing the money into the county to truly meet the needs of our young people. HOWEVER, she has the wonderful grant writing skillsets that could make a reality! AND the dedication! The next step will be on May 15th when the ARC Youth Advisory Board will meet and review the proposals that are being recommended. Dawn, Dorothy and I are all on that board and will of course be recusing ourselves while our proposal is being reviewed but we will know when we leave that meeting if we are being funded or not. We have been running full speed ahead since our meeting on April 9th- one short month ago!! I just want to thank you all again for being willing and excited about coming together, sharing needs and resources you have to make this a collaborative grant that will serve so many more youth than we have been able to serve in the past. This is such a great example of partnering for a greater good! We will be meeting together from time to time and through all of this will able to create additional programs or activities where we see unmet needs. We will also learn how to support one another better in our efforts to create a more comprehensive learning environment for our youth that need a few extra opportunities and encouragement in their transition into young adulthood and next steps. You will be hearing from me next week!!! |
